Library empty after NAS disconnects

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9232
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.141.0

I’m running Plex on a Mac Mini (Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93)), with most of my movies on a NetGEAR ReadyNAS mounted on the mini. I’ve had this setup for years.

I recently opened Plex and found that my Movies library was entirely empty. My NAS was not currently mounted, so I mounted it, but still no movies. My library settings were correctly preserved — it knew my Movies folder was on the ReadyNAS. I dutifully had it rescan my folders, and it rebuilt my 3000+ movie library.

The next day, the NAS was again unmounted, and my Plex library was again empty. As I mentioned, I’ve been running this configuration for years, and Plex has always “remembered” the contents of my library even when the NAS drive is unmounted.

What is making Plex nuke my library whenever the remote disk goes offline? I do have “Scan my library periodically (6 hours)” turned on, but I’m pretty sure that has always been checked and was not changed recently.

Have there been any changes to Plex under the hood that would suddenly cause this behavior? Is there — short of guaranteeing that the ReadyNAS remains mounted at all times — some way to prevent Plex from nuking my whole libary just because the media is currently unavailable?

This is a recent regression and change in behaviour. See PM-1739 in 1.41.3.9232 introduces what I hope is a regression - #6 by dokuro and that thread.

Best to disable periodic scans until this is fixed.
