Majority of Movie Library Disappearing

Hello everybody. I’m having a very weird experience with my Plex server. My library normally has approximately 2370 movies. Suddenly and without warning this has dropped to 989. I am running Plex on a Mac server and the content lives on a shared drive on a Synology NAS, which the Mac has full unrestricted access to. All the movies are there on the shared drive, absolutely nothing has changed. They are all properly lableled and named. If I delete my movie Library in Plex and then add it again, pointing the server to the drive where the movies reside, the server scans and sees everything, pulls everything back, and then a few hours later I’m back to 989 movies.

Another strange occurance is the Auto discover feature is not working. If I click on a movie and select one of the actors from the cast, I can only see which other titles in my Plex library in which they appear, I don’t get the full biography like I did before. I have checked that I’m signed in properly, with a solid internet connection, and I am.

Has anybody experienced anything like this before?

This? Plex Files Unavailable but they’re not missing

Not quite the same issue. I’m not seeing files or content on the server that are showing as unavailable. It’s simply vanished (at least from the view of the plex server, but the files are there on the NAS share) and despite performing a number of scans Plex does not see or is not picking up the majority of the content. If I remove and re-add the library then it will scan all content and it returns to normal for a few hours, and then for no reason I can determine, the number of movies drops from 2370 to 989.

Going to bet its the same issue, and you have empty trash enabled after automatic scans.

Yes, you are correct, I read further down into the thread that FordGuy61 linked to and realized its the same issue. There are some work arounds and fixes posted there. The best one is to roll back the latest Mac OS update to the one prior. It’s the new Mac update which is causing the issue, by the looks of it. Those who have rolled back to the previous version do not experience this issue.
