I noticed when scanning that plex somehow scans folders not added to my library specifically the plex folders which it usually gets stuck on how do I stop it from doing that?
Normally, Plex will only scan folders which are explicitly added to the Plex library.
However, if you added one of the “Library Folders” of Windows to a Plex library, things can get illogical and hard to handle.
I recommend you to not use the pre-defined folders ‘Music’ and ‘Video’ in Windows for your media. Instead, create a totally separate folder structure outside of the Personal Files location. Then direct Plex to look only in there for media.
And of yourse, you must not add the Plex data folder to any Plex library.
That’s the thing though I did NOT add the plex folder but it still scans it. My operating system (where plex is installed) is on a different drive (which isn’t added to the plex library) yet somehow when it scans for media it scans my system drive for some annoying reason. now please someone how do I stop it from scanning that drive (again ISN’T added to my lilbrary)?
Can you let us know the path to the folder it’s scanning that is wrong and the path to the folder is the one that is added to the Library.
Your scanner logs will also have this information.
