When I try to create a photo library, Plex creates photos from all my libraries like movies, tv shows, and music. They are all mixed in randomly with my personal photos. Why does this happen? What is the fix?

You need to tell Plex which folder(s) it shall scan for photos.
Don’t point it to a whole drive letter or to your “Windows user profile” folder, but only to a folder that contains your photos.

All my media data is on an external drive with separate sub-folders for movies, tv shows, music, music videos, other videos, and photos. When I created the photos library I pointed Plex to the photos sub-folder. But this still happens.

Did you change the settings away from the defaults under
Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’ - “The path where local application data is stored”
and/or
Settings - Server - Transcoder - ‘Show Advanced’ - “Transcoder temporary directory”
?

Have you verified that only this folder appears on the ‘Add Folders’ tab, when you edit the ‘Photos’ library?

I have not changed any of the default settings in the advanced sections except to check the auto tag. Also, I am sure I only the photos folder was used when I created the library. In fact I have tried it 3 times, all with the same result.

Edit your library, go to the ‘Add Folders’ tab.

OK …I get message saying “cannot add photos”

Simply by going to this page? Or did you try to add another folder?

Make sure to use this: app.plex.tv
If you are already using it, refresh the app in your web browser by pressing F5

I used the app.plex.tv and it appears to be a little different from the one I was using on my PC which is the server. But I went through the steps and it appears to be still scanning

Did you actually change anything? Because otherwise it wouldn’t perform a new library scan.

No. It has finished scanning and all is still the same.

Could you make a screenshot of this Add Folders tab?

Also, please hover your mouse over the miniature of a photo that should not be there, over the lower-right corner. Click on the vertical ellipsis ⋮ and then on ‘Get Info’.
Copy the folder path to this photo, which is shown at the top.
