Library not playing on ipad

Hello, today I went to plex on my ipad to play one of my movies and it is asking me to subscribe. I’m on the same network as my server. I’m not having this issue on my iphone or tvs, only this one ipad. Please help. Thank you.

Thank you. Where do I post this? I contacted Plex support and they told me to post on the forum. I’m new to this.

What do you want to post?
Why not post it here?

I just need to help trying to get my plex movies to play on my ipad. You said it might get deleted. Support told me to post on the forum. I’m pretty confused LOL

I don’t think anything gets deleted – at least I’m not aware that I might have been saying this.
I was only pointing you to a post that explains what might make the client think it’s having a remote connection.

I apologize, I thought you were saying that my post was going to be deleted because I mentioned a new subscription.

I have been using this ipad on my network for a long time and today all of a sudden it’s asking me to subscribe. I’m on my same network. I have changed nothing at all. I have reset plex server, ipad, network, etc. and nothing seems to fix it. I can watch movies on my iphone, but on the ipad it keeps asking me to subscribe.

I also contacted support, and they replied pretty quickly to my first question as I was trying to figure it out, so when I let them know I was on the same network, they sent me here to the forum.

Plex have introduced a requirement to have a subscription to stream media from your server remotely. This was rolled out with the new “experience” apps.

As you stated, you’re on the same network, so this shouldn’t apply.
That’s why I was asking about the points from the post I’ve linked above – that post explains why Plex might think a connection is remote, even if you deem it to be local.
Another option coming to mind is the iPad’s security settings – e.g. if you’ve disabled the client app from accessing the local network (in which case it might also try to establish a remote connection).
Without additional details or at least feedback, e.g. how your setup behaves with regards to the 6 points from the post linked above, people won’t be able to help troubleshooting.

Thank you so much Tom. It’s the strangest thing because I restart my ipad ONE more time, and now it is working LOL. I understood that Plex changed their subscription service, but I didn’t think it applied when I was on my own network., so I didn’t want subscribe to something I didn’t need at this time. Thanks again for your willingness to help!
