Plex saying I need a remote pass on loca l network?

Server is on windows 11 PC and is up to date. App on devices like ipad and iphone are up to date. Everything was working fine and now all of a sudden it says I need a remote pass? I’m at home on the same network which is the only one we have. It’s worked for years and now something has changed? I was trying to make my PC internet work better so maybe I switched a setting with the firewall or something? But it sees all my library. Don’t know much about network stuff! Thanks!!

Edit. Not sure if it matters but when I open Plex on my ipad there is nothing under the Libraries tab. But if I use the drop down arrow in the upper left my library is there and then it’s back under the library tab. ???

Let’s have a look at this guide from the tips & tricks section. It might help identifying why the client considers your connection to be remote.

Hmm…a lot of that is over my head. I checked my PC and ipad ip addresses and they are both 10.0.0.xxx so I think they are on the same server. At first it said my libraries were offline but then they pop back up. I just checked on my PC and I can watch in the desktop app and the server is running. And when I’m in the app on my ipad it knows what I was watching and how much time I have left so it’s seeing my media. Anything else I can check? Feel free to give me the idiot’s guide!

See if this works for you…
Open Plex, go to Settings, then on the left go to Network.
Then on the right side go to the bottom of the page, above Webhooks, there is a line
that says “List of IP Addresses and Networks that are allowed without auth”
In that box enter 10.0.0.0/24 (based on your comment on your IP Address) and then hit Save..
See if that fixes your issue…

Unfortunately, no. I signed out of Plex on my mobile device and back in but still got the remote pass pop up. Sometimes, I notice when I would try and open my Libraries on my phone there would be the ! triangle and it wouldn’t find them at first. Not sure if that has anything to do with my problem. Although today it seems like it’s finding the libraries fine, shows my recent movie and how long I have left, and then I get the remote pass pop up.

Is there an alternate method for streaming within my house? Just want to get back to being able to watch my own media.

Just adding a comment in case someone has any new insights! Still can’t use Plex. Last night it opened on my Apple TV but in the menu screen there were a bunch of exclamation points in the left hand navigation bar and it was playing my movie at 320p.

Really don’t want to have to abandon Plex!
