I ran a library scan for my ‘Movies’ last night and rather than just pick up the few files I had added it seems to have tried to scan every single file (over 3000!) which has resulted in most of my metadata being lost.
I’ve no idea why this happened as location of folder etc hasn’t changed.
I suppose it might be best for me to revert to previous backup but I have no idea how to do this?
I can see in the logs that a lot of activity has taken place and the last time this happened was back in 2017 when i DID move folder locations to a new WD MYCLOUD.
It has taken me a long long time to re-select all of my preferred posters and they have now reverted back to the originals.
That makes a lot of sense re the enable trash deletion part as I’ve been in France with no access to where files are stored.
I’ve also located the databases and know that the following was before I left for France so should be fine. However, do I use ‘com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-2019-07-28’ or ‘com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-2019-07-28’ ?
The ‘blobs’ bit seems to be the only difference.
Also, I don’t quite understand step 3 Duplicate the database backup file into the correct directory and then rename it to com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
I assume I copy and paste the files as above but am not sure where to then put it?
By default, the backup copies are in the same folder as the “original” database file.
(There is a way to instruct Plex to put them somewhere else, but if you never modified that setting, they are in the same folder.)
So by default you delete the original database file com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
(or you move it to a safe place, just in case)
then you make a copy of the backup file and rename it to com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
Plex must be stopped/quit/ended while performing the operation!
