ran the latest update now my server don’t work won’t access my library
Would you mind sharing some more details about your issue?
Let’s start with the very minimum / basics:
- what version of PMS do you have installed (“latest” update could mean the latest beta or public releases)?
- on what version of Windows are you running your server?
- can you describe what you mean by “your server doesn’t work” and “won’t access your library” (e.g. what are you doing / trying to do, what outcome do you get vs. what you’re expecting to see)?
I asm having an issue as well after the last update several season of some of my shows do not display that did before the update to Server Version 1.29.2.6364.
They are present on the drive and playable in other video player software but plex does not show them. Here is an example:
TV Show Andromeda Season 1-5 are on the drive in the folder configuired for TV Showes, but only Season 2 appears. All file names follow tre stated convention (Andromeda,S##E##.mp4 where the ## represents the seasson and episodes number). I hane tried re-scanning libraries. I even completely removed the show from the drive, cleared it from the library, coppied all files back and re-scanned the library still only season 2 showes up.
I am thinking maybe I have exceeded a limit in the number of files as my library is quite large (15TB+ over 45 complete series of shows and roughly 2000 movies) could I have hit a limit on the number of videos plex can handle?
I think Plex has a much larger limit than that. According to my numbers, I have over 700 series (a large amount of these are single season, but I have 26,000 individual episodes) and 2000 movies. They ARE split over 3 libraries per type, but I think my organization scheme is unique, I’d bet most people use single libraries. I have over 16TB of media, so I don’t think it’d be the file sizes either…
I can’t think of any reason your shows are not showing up. I’d start with double-checking your setup (media folder structure, filenames, library source list, etc), then double check to see if it’s a failing database.
I have my movies across 2 folders and my TV Showes are all in one folder with sub-folders for each individual Series which has each season in even another sub-folder.
Can you possibly suggest a way to determine if the database is failing or a way to rebuild my database I have used Plex for over 6 years but short of setting up my library and editing movie organization into collection (I have never needed to go any deeper , its’s always just worked) I am not that familliar with this.
Thanks for your help.
First thing to check is the health of the primary database file:
- activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server
- wait 1 minute
- start Plex Server
- wait 5 minutes
- fetch log files and attach them here
Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

Thanks everybody for your help. The Database was corrupt. The only way I could get it all working was to delete the data base and rebuild it.
I downloaded PlexMediaServer-1.30.0.6359-1185e28d9-x86_64, I’m currently running windows 10
and the library I speak of is the folder where all my movies is stored when I login in it just keep spooling for hours like its having a problem reading the files or uploading them to cloud
What do you mean by “spooling for hours”?
There’s no upload to a cloud when it comes to Plex.
