Lifetime Plex Pass is bound to server?

New Plex user, planning to set up a server in the next few days.  I'm studying the PlexPass, and was a bit surprised to read this the following here: https://blog.plex.tv/2014/09/22/upcoming-price-increase-new-plex-pass-subscriptions/

Q: Is the subscription bound to a device or a server?

A: Generally speaking it’s bound to a server (or servers, if you have more than one). There’s one feature (Camera Upload) which requires a Plex Pass on the app, but we’re going to be fixing that.

So suppose I buy a Lifetime PlexPass for $150 and my server dies in five years.  I build a new one and sign up again.  Do I pay another $150 because it's a different server?  It sounds like lifetime means lifetime of the server, not of the buyer.  Insights?

Not sure if that statement came off the way it was intended.

Your PlexPass is tied to your plex.tv account.  A server is tied to a single plex.tv account, but a plex.tv account can have multiple servers.  This is true even if the account is not a PlexPass.  If you need to change email accounts, the PlexPass can be transferred to the new email as well.

Thanks. When I read this I almost wondered if there was a missing not:  "Generally speaking it’s not bound to a server (or servers, if you have more than one)."  Based on what you've said, that seems likely.

The question was asking between a device [client] and server, so my guess is that the intended question was where the plex pass benefits are tied to, which in most cases is the server. The camera upload feature as mentioned in the answer is device [client] based.
