Suggestion: Bring back the old client. Newer browser client is missing many of the old options; No longer displays my defined Movies, Tv, Pictures, Music as standalone entities in the left to select; now only a scroll line. No longer able to view as a library with a vertical alphabetized scroll bar on the right.
Suggestion: To add back the option for user defend location for “MetaData”. Recent Drive failure has forced a rebuild/reinstall. I’m finding my C: Drive is now being crushed by Plex MetaData that has been shoved into my profile stricture under the AppData directory. In the past via Plex setting you could define the location. C: drive should not be the default.
Suggestion: My libraries should be listed before your pay-for-service, not beneath them if showing everything (lots of scroll lines like Netflix) Is the goal. Per 1st suggestions If our libs were again listed on the left panel we could just select them.
Thanks for the feedback, being bottoms up install from scratch some new features discovered.
In reviewing the RegKeys the per install process you can see my response where the Code was to be placed its not on the C: Drive. My environment I point to P: (plex) drive. Directory stricture install created is P:\Local\Plex Media Server . In the “Plex Media Server“ Directory on P: are all of the file folders found on C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server , with one exception the code library it’s not on C: it’s on P: .
My NT 3.5 and 4.0 days playing with Regkeys made upgrades hell why y2k was a bear. I opted to move all folders from C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server and place them into the Root of P:\ , I made “Plex Media Server” on C: as the Mount point for P:\ thus all folders in root of P:\ look to be on the C: drive under “Plex Media Server”. As Install did post a regkey for user defined location for the code.
I would ask Please for an Email should development come to teams with a unified Implementation. Everyone uses the user prompted location during install. This way prior to installing that update I will copy all files from P:\ root into P:\Local\Plex Media Server To avoid the mass breakage that would come from the mass re-scanning of my Storage Space.
Feature; breakage when re-scanning in mass (nearly 20%). Images and names are wrong, the Names to be extracted from the file name on disk. A few I have fixed will drop form the library, they can be searched for and found by Plex, are on disk, but no re-scanning will they appear back in the library. This is affecting about 3-4 percent of all fixed. This was taking place prior to using a mount point, and no greater rate after. Have not found a workaround yet.
As to Library inventory on the left, until install scan completed nothing was showing. Unlike augmenting an existing profile. (User Error)
