Limited profiles to one screen or +

Hi everyone .

I created a few profiles for the family side, however I would like to know if it is possible to limit each profile?

In the sense that a profile can only be connected to a single screen and not to several.

If my brothers and sisters on their PC have access to their Plex profiles, can they not be connected for example to another computer or device at the same time?

You can limit the number of concurrent streams per account while they’re accessing your library from outside your home network (Settings > [Server Name] > Network > Remote streams allowed per user) — but you cannot block them from signing in on more than one client.

Thank you for your message I will look into that, however I would prefer that Plex integrate a limitation of simultaneous connection per profile (one screen per Profile or two etc…). This is a really important option to prevent abuse and problems for other members :frowning:

Would you mind elaborating your use case?

  • browsing your library from different clients won’t add a significant load to your server
  • you can restrict users who hand-down their accounts by limiting the amount of parallel streams (e.g. by limiting it to 1 stream per user)

If single users/friends misuse your server, you can always kick them out (ending individual streams or unfriend them

Thank you for your response, how can I limit my personal account when a person in my family connects with their profile to only be able to read one video per profile? (example profile 1 plays a video, profile 2 plays a video, profile 3 plays a video and prohibits them from playing other videos if they are connected to another computer at the same time)

And for my friends to whom I give access so that they can read my library but only when connected? if he connects to another computer (so he gives access to his friends) it will be impossible to play videos since he is already connected elsewhere (so a friends profile = a connected screen or a PC connected etc…) and prohibit the possibility of using my library as long as it is already connected.

So add a functionality even if it’s just on plex pass which would allow authorization to be given to a profile which can connect to a single device and others to several devices? (depending on their uses) .

I use a NAS and for some who do not have the necessary tool they go through transcoding which uses the energy of my NAS

As I wrote… you can already establish a general limit that applies to all accounts/profiles while streaming from outside your home network.

There’s an existing suggestion discussing an option to apply different limits per account/profile. If that’s what you’re looking for, please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes (closing this thread as a duplicate).
