For some series, there are “special” episodes that take place between the main episodes. For instance, Jojo’s bizarre adventure has an episode 13.5 special episode. This episode won’t be watched in it’s “correct” order if someone is just letting plex play through all the episodes. However, I would still like to keep the episode in it’s “Specials” folder rather than moving it into the main series folder and naming it appropriately so that it is sorted in with the series.
It would be good if there was an option to manually add a sort of hyperlink version of (in this instance) episode 13.5
I.e I don’t want to have two copies of the file, but if I can have an option to add an extra episode into a series but source the file from the Specials (Season 00) folder still, then I can have my cake and eat it too.
Btw. if your special episode has the right “release date” set on it, it will appear in On Deck at the right moment (but only if you’re not binging a series.)
Side remark: That’s one of the reasons why I don’t binge. I always have 3 to 5 series I am watching concurrently. It just gives more variety in content and it also makes it easier to stop when you’re sleepy
The biggest problem is that even if you do a sym-link to it you CAN’T put it in the series folder without a SIGNIFICANT compromise. Episode 13.5 will just be treated by Plex as a different version of episode 13. So it’ll EITHER play Episode 13 OR episode 13.5. So you’d have to name it episode 14, Ep14 needs to be 15, 15->16, etc, etc. But then the Metadata is all messed up. So you have to manually edit the names, dates, etc. I number it 113, then 14 becomes 114, etc, etc. Since I have to manually tag everything anyway, at lest the number is still right, just with an extra 1 at the front.
This is something that we’ve been trying to get support for for a LONG time. there was a time, back in the beginning, where a handful of things that don’t work now did, & I’m pretty sure this was one of those (It’s been so long I can’t be sure). But Plex has no interest in letting us have incremental episodes, they’ve even removed discussions on the issue a number of times (This comment may well end up the same way)
