With the recent launch of Watch Together for Movies & TV I would love to have a similar feature to enable users to Listen Together for Music.
I’ve spent hours searching for a solution to this and never thought that Plex could offer a perfect solution very similar the Watch Together apart from a few differences…
Users can join and leave a ‘gig’ at will
Having an option to allow users to add to a playlist, band, release etc etc.
Random play option so you can just quickly create a ‘gig’ and set it live. This could set parameters based on band, genre, year(s) as well as type such as album, single or EP meaning you could create something like - Play all Beatles Albums randomly which would play their albums track by track as they should be heard but randomise the order in which albums get played
I really do think this would be an awesome addition to Plex and something a lot of users would use especially now.
Hi there, just popping in to second this feature request! I’ve spent a ton of time horsing around with random other things online to enable this and have never been able to get it to work right. With the Watch Together feature on Plex, I truly wonder if it would be possible to implement something similar for music and I would LOVE it.
+1 bump - Would love to do a playlist listen together, or like a whole album listen party. Or the ‘gig’ idea. Anything along those lines would be great for syncing up experiences.
Adding my request to this as well, having watch together feature for music would be a great idea. My apologies if this has already been replied to, but would this be possible in a future release?
Yes PLEASE gosh yes. There are absolutely no apps out there short of VMs that allow you to listen to your local files in any sort of quality with other people at the same time. I’d pay the price of an entire other plex pass just to have this feature.
Also would like this listen together. Have started online pool playing with a friend and we are already using zoom at the same time for video / chat and it would be perfect to listen to the same music as well.
absolutely - seems like a logical progression and would mean a lot to my father and I who are on other sides of the world. we listened to more music together than films growing up.
I also would like this feature. If Amazon’s alexa can do it, why couldn’t plex? I’d like to hear from a Plex admistrator to see if this is in the works or not? Any idea if this is being worked on?
Would really like to see this! Unfortunate this hasn’t seen any official response. Competitors offer this, and it shouldn’t be too big a lift engineering wise, although support for adding to a queue, or picking music would have to be implemented. But even a basic “hey only i have full control, just simply come listen to what I’m listening to right now” would be easy & a big step in the right direction.
Would love to get this feature too. Using Spotify’s listen together feature is nice, but the quality is crap and quite a lot of music is missing. Integrating it with Discord would be amazing too
