I’m looking to get a Plex Pass and do live TV and DVR using Plex, but I’m having trouble figuring out what devices I specifically need to get it working with Xfinity cable. I saw this topic ( Is it possible to use Xfinity as a live tv provider? ), which gave me some helpful information like the fact that it won’t work with DRM channels and I’ll need a Cable Card, but there are still many outstanding questions that I would like to have answered before I make the decision to purchase.
- What specific DVR tuner models will work with both Plex and Xfinity?
- Do these tuners need external storage, like a NAS, as well?
- Even if they don’t, would it make sense to get a NAS to run the server on?
- Are there any other gotchas I need to be aware of for either the devices or the service?
The HDHomeRun Prime 6 looks to be the perfect option, but the more I look into it, the more it screams of Vaporware.
Also, I am aware of the supported tuners page, but it doesn’t really do a good job of describing which ones will work with cable and what else you’ll need.
If anyone could please answer these questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
