Hello. I am wondering if it is currently possible to allow managed users to access the program guide/watch live TV? I have a managed user set up, but when logged in as them, the live TV section is not available. Just making sure I am not missing something.
Nope, not missing anything currently only the Admin account has access to Live TV and scheduling recordings.
Ok. Thank you!

If you have a silicondust tuner, Use this Plex channel for the time being in order to share Live TV:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/101755/rel-hdhomerun-viewer/p1
Configure it and then share the newly created Channels category with whomever you want… including “Home Members”
As a network admin I’m really curious as to why “home users” are restricted from viewing OTA broadcasts.
The HDHomeRun channel is extremely slow to start the stream compared to being able to watch live TV through the Admin user interface. It’s actually quicker for my “home users” to just change TV inputs to antenna (at least for my setup).
It’s been almost 3 months since this thread started and I’m just curious if this is going change (“home users” being able to watch live TV).
The native HDHR app for FireTV and XB1 works very well. Sorry, not available for Roku.

Yes I’m aware of that but my original question was if “home users” are ever going to be able to watch live TV without loading a “channel” or having to login as the “Admin” user on Plex.
I am able to watch live TV using the Plex app on Roku when logged in as “Admin” but the users are not without logging in with my credentials. If this is a “security issue” with Plex I feel that it’s having the reverse effect as I’m sure the majority of people are just letting their users login as the Admin.
It’s not a huge problem for me as all the TV’s in my house are connected to the antenna using the DirecTV cabling from when I had DirecTV satellite and I’ve already shown my home users how to change the input on each of the TV’s.
I have friends that I’ve helped to get setup with Plex though and it becomes a pain trying to explain why it takes so long to load the HDHR channel to load for users.
I’ve been very happy with all my Roku’s for the last year. I’ve thought about trying out some other streamers but I figured I’d wait to see how the new Roku OS performs first. From first hand experience i understand how limiting the current Roku OS is.

And don’t even get me started on what a pain it is just to support my friends due to all the different user interfaces. I understand the UI is “limited” to what the underlying hw & sw allows but in my 40 years of IT work I’ve never seen a program with so many UI’s that are so different or limited in certain ways.

As I am writing this my android phone just updated the Plex app & the HDHR app. Both were working with live TV before the update. The HDHR app continues to stream live TV fine but now my android Plex app now errors out trying to watch live TV.
Sorry for the long post. None of this is a deal breaker for me as I love my Plex. I’m just gonna have to quit being a nice guy and quit trying to help my friends out who want to cut the cord like I have . . .
