Rollback is not working/possibe on Synology NAS
Did you go through an Uninstall of the current plexmediaserver (Uninstall only. Keep all existing files for future re-installation)? Then an Install of the rollback plexmediaserver?
no, I thought when removing Plex media server all the config etc. is gone including DVR etc I have well configured… So that means I can remove it and keep the files for the version I want to install? ok then, the question is, which version is required where DVR/Live TV is/was working fine?
I run Ubuntu server. Not Synology. My understanding is that you would need to go through the process like this:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/synology-faq-questions-answers-and-how-tos/490215/39
Except on re-install you would chose Normal Installation.
All of your existing libraries and database entries would remain intact.
I suggest that you try 1.41.3.9314.
I noticed the same issue at the start of the week so rolled back to PMS 1.4. That returned the browse live TV option. However, when I went to stream from my phone, I get “you plex server is out of date”. Annoying! Looks like I’ll be streaming from my Jellyfin setup until the next PMS update comes out. As an aside, the simplicty of live TV on plex is the only reason I’ve not moved over to Jellyfin completely (having to setup TV headend is a PITA),
PMS ver 1.4 would be going back many years. I wouldn’t expect it to even run.
What OS are you running?
cool will do this later today.
ok the repository you shared there was no file for DSM 7.2.2 so I could not install the version you proposed as there was only for DSM 6 or DSM 7 not 7.2.2. However I installed it via installer on the Synology NAS and running now on a “little bit” older version Version 1.41.5.9626. checking this version right now
ok on Web discovery works now, on the latest iOS Plex App (version 2025.19.0 - 1118) searching in discovery is working, but when clicking via Live TV filter to the searched movie/series I get the “Oh oh… something went wrong.” message
In the web it works, I see all the details of e.g. a searched series.
It’s probably part of the iOS Plex app update fiasco.
lol yes, will check this evening on Apple TV (public/former verson) plus the Beta. The Beta on Apple TV is not usable, but maybe its a combination of the client and the server not working properly, well, at least the discovery works… kind of cheers
On Apple TV, how do you go from public/former version to Beta, and then back to public/former version?
I rolled back to 1.41.7.9823-59f304c16 (Ubuntu).
Phil
Let us know how that works out for you Mr. Phil Wile E. Coyote. Some of us on Ubuntu server are looking for a good stable update.
That’s the previous release. It works fine. You’ll just get a warning on rollback. No issue.
Phil
@Wile_E’s downgrade worked for me as well on Ubuntu Server 24.04.2. A simple dpkg manual install did the trick. Since my Ubuntu Server is configured for auto-updating via my plex repo, I also ran sudo apt-mark hold plexmediaserver
to prevent auto-update until the Plex devs (hopefully) fix this in an upcoming build.
I’m having this same issue. Unfortunately I migrated my box from ubuntu to windows so I could the same box for Steam + Plex + Dev without keep dual booting, and despite the pain of manual migration of stuff, this was the last thing I noticed it broke:
Tried to seach for my shows on the search box and nothing from my guide would show up. Tried to browse in the Live TV option, and was met with the dreadful: Something went wrong page.
I was too lazy and wanted something more integrated and installed straight from the whatever windows store, so probably no rollback for me?
Also, is this working on Ubuntu? Why everything is still very broken and sucking on Windows in 2025?
My mistake. I rolled back to 4.123.2.
It works fine via a Firefox and edge as well as on my LG Tv app. The iPhone says nope. I’m not upgrading until Plex fixes the live tv browse issue.
I would also be grateful for a supposed stable update that doesn’t break something for a change. This is exactly why I didn’t sign up for the beta releases.
