LIVE TV buffers a lot

My Plex is transcoding Live TV streaming from a HDHomerun Extend from 1080i to 1080p. Buffer is excessive. Any suggestions to get the best performance from a HDHomerun Extend with Plex Server on a Synology 918+?

Stop transcoding on the Extend, send the mpeg2 stream straight to the TV. Turn on mpeg playback in the Plex Roku client.
