Live TV - can I watch channels from another country?

I live in Luxembourg and would like to watch Canadian and US TV channels (or at least DVR them). Is this possible with the Plex Pass?

We aren’t a tv provider like Hulu.

Live TV is a DVR function of the Plex Media Server you install on your computer. It uses your supported tuner and an OTA antenna to record and streams signal to Plex Players

You would need a server in US set up properly to get US channels.

But if my family sets up a plex server is USA where they actually live, then can I watch the channels in my country?

Only if the server either

  • is signed in with your plex account
  • they invite you into their Plex Home

And even then it could be difficult, due to the packet latency over such a great distance.

There is a reason why video streaming services distribute their servers geographically, so their clients only have a short distance between themselves and the streaming server.
