Live TV Crashing PMS

Every now and then when watching live TV the entire server crashes. The screen acts like it’s going to buffer then stops at 33% and locks up. I have to restart PMS in order to restart watching the show. It doesn’t happen a lot (when watching football for 6 hours straight it only failed once).

My setup is as follows:

i7-6700k computer with 32GB RAM (hardwired)
HDHomerun Connect (hardwired)
Roku Premiere+

Is anybody else having these issues?

You have for the most part, the exact setup I have. I found a faulty network cable that caused my issues with buffering and stalls. Not sure if you’ve got the same type of issue, but looking over your chain wouldn’t hurt. I can tell you with that setup, I run amazingly well now. Also make sure you’ve updated to the most recent PMS.

EDIT: I have half your RAM though at 16gb.

I have checked all the network cables and run throughput tests. It doesn’t appear to be a throughput issue.

Also, I’m not sure a network cable would be likely to crash the server. Once my issue happens, PMS becomes completely unresponsive until I shut it down and restart it.

Ahhh… Mine just hung, and a back button took me back to the show menu and I was able to restart. Sounds like you should pull some logs after the next time it happens. Pull all logs (verbose logging disabled) and post them here in a zip file. One of the Ninjas will come along and provide more insight.
I’ll take a crack at it, but they’re a bit more versed than I am.

I have the same problem… did you end up solving it?

When I tested the live TV on my laptop (instead of a Roku) it worked for like 5 hours without crashing as opposed to the Roku which was about 30 min. Perhaps this is a Roku issues??

I’m having the same issue. My PMS shuts down and needs a restart. I’ve noticed when playing live TV I will see an error and the show will either stop playing or not start, if I then try to play it again it will shut the PMS down. I’m hoping someone has figured out this issue. Thanks

same issue here. i can instantly make my plex server crash by using my roku or firetv to watch live tv. i know resources are not the issue. just a bug that needs to be fixed. let me know if i can do anything.
