Live TV & DVR Does Not Parse Provided XML Properly

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version#: ALL of them
Tuner Make/Model: Xteve
Guide/Lineup name: N/A
Using XMLTV?: Yes
Channel number/Name: Any of them

So I am pretty sure that if you provide your own xml as use for guide data plex is screwing up certain aspects of that data. Sort of hard to explain and I can provide screenshots if necessary, but here are a couple of examples:

  1. Plex marks all events titled “College Football” as the same 2 teams playing each other on every single channel showing “College Football”. For today the chosen ones were Tennessee vs. Florida.
  2. When using the “What’s On” section or the “Browse” section certain items are miss categorized. For example sports being categorized as movies. Sporting event listed in #1 is listed in the “Movies On Later” section. Plex itself knows this is a sporting event. If you select the item the genres listed are even correct it’s just getting put in the wrong bucket.
  3. This is not a huge deal, however, after watching the plex pro week video on live tv and seeing the presenter get his local channels to show up in the “Movies”, “Sports”, etc. categories in the “Unified Guide” I had to double check mine and sure enough they do not show up in those sections on the guide, I thought maybe I needed to favorite the channels so I did that as well and still nothing. This could be a bug with providing your own xml but I am not sure, I did not test this feature using their gracenote data.

If anybody has encountered these issues and can help that would be awesome. Or if these are bugs I understand that as well.

Thanks.

Do you see the same as this issue that I have?

I have the same issue with Plex combing EPG data for similarly named ‘shows’. In my case it was NHL hockey, it will list all channels for the same time slot as the same teams playing.

I have confirmed the EPG data I’m feeding Plex is correct by using other programs (including Emby) which looks perfect.

I believe this also interferes with the way Plex handles recording those events.
