I have Grande Communication Cable and have a cable card from them. After speaking with them and getting it provisioned they told me that I would need to reach out to plex to configure. I have read several post I have tried the setup live tv & dvr from both the web app and the desktop app for windows when I go to scan channels it does nothing other than to say check to make sure the device is connected to your antenna or cable which it is.

I would try to see if you get ANY channels in the HD Homerun app itself first to make sure its not an activation issue.

@alecwillett402 Agreed download the hdhomerun software and make sure that your hdhomerun Prime is up to date and then do a channel scan with the hdhomerun software. Make sure that you come back with Channel’s first before trying to set it up in Plex. If you don’t come up with channels that means that your cable card is not activated from your cable company correctly. This is very common as most people don’t know how to activate a cable card.

Thanks to both the HD home run app has no channels the cable provider says that it is activated on their end.

Is your hdhomerun firmware up to date?

It’ll tell you when you download the hdhomerun software if it needs to download a firmware update before doing a channel scan.

If so confirm with your cable company you don’t need a tuning adapter. Also under your cable card menu does everything say success?

So my firmware is up to date I did that prior to putting the card in the first time. HDHomeRun Support said that it was still not provisioned correctly due to the VCTID and the channel list saying none. I have reached back out to the cable company for additional support and they are looking into this. I do have a plex related question if this work is there a limit to how many of these tuners I can use?

@alecwillett402 not that I know of, I love to DVR so I have a ton of tuners LOL.

Thanks for the info so they managed to get 4 channels to popup after doing a cold boot and repairing this. They are now sending a tech with another cable card out to see if it is that or the signal strength. the good thing is two of them know about the HDHomeRun and the Plex so I think they will get me fixed up Friday.

Not to derail, but DirecTV? How?

Just a test tuner. It’s not possible to my knowledge to import DirecTV.

So the next day I ran the re-scan on my channels and it took like 30 mins and it found like 300 channels. which is great and I got it added to my Plex and I can watch tv now. if there is a few channels that are unchecked and cannot be associated with a name in the EPG do II just register the channel here (Plex EPG Lineup Inaccuracies) or is there another place?

Also I noticed on two of my smart tv “SamSung” I have the ability to record future shows but that option does not show up to record a show that is currently running. Now on my iphone app I have the record option.

Yeah some channels just won’t pull up on the EPG but you can try to register them. I’m glad you got it working!. For Samsung I have no clue, that I don’t know anything about:). I’m more of an Android TV & roku user myself.

yeah I purchased the $40 Roku 4k+ adapter and that gave me the options I needed. to record current tv show or movies. thanks for the help
