Yesterday September 24 I left a message and a request at Plex Accounts Support (Subscription Billing), but I realized that I should have first addressed it to (Support). A day earlier when I became aware that an HTPC version had been developed I decided to subscribe again (Lifetime), despite having had cancel my subscriptions on previous occasions because of issues with “Live TV & DVR” functions of the application, which after the elapsed time I expect that they would be have been addressed and corrected in some form. But to my surprise and dismay I confronted some of the exact issues that I had previously encountered. Aside from the many great features and offerings Plex has, my fundamental purpose and objective is to have the app work with my live TV tuners and local TV programing of OTA and Cable TV. But have again found that when the DVR and Programing Guide fail, I have found no way to manually bypass the process to force one of my tuners to be accept and added as a DVR source, which is the case of my “HDhomerun Prime” for Cable TV, which despite it being “found” and its “scan channels” are listed and checked mark selected by me, upon selecting “continue” the DVR returns the prompt “There was a problem adding the device to your DVR. Please try again.” In addition, when I review the “Guide Channels” column, in the “Select Channel” list, only the OTA channels appear of my other “HDhomerun Connect Quatro”, that was previously setup, but none of the Cable TV channels are listed. Which for me would not be a mayor issue if I could bypass the process and manually configured what is required. There is also the issue with the “DVR SCHEDULE” which failed to program some OTA channel airings stating that there are “No upcoming airings”, which is not correct, because I know for a fact that those local airings will occur despite what the Plex app sustains. I am totally willing to work with you in making the app work correctly with “Live TV & DVR”, even when the app fails and/or there is a discrepancy, I will not mind to input and configure things manually, but I have not yet found that option. If what I have observed and described about Plex can not be corrected or bypassed in some way, I will unfortunately have to cancel my subscription and respectfully request a refund. Please respond promptly.
Thank you
If I am reading this correctly:
- You Have 2 HDHomeRun’s A A Quatro and a prime
- One to use with OTA with an Antenna
- One to use with your local Cable Provider
- You have successfully added the OTA to Plex
- Plex fails to Add the one connected to Cable
This Sound About Correct?
I will say, I don’t think Plex supports having more than one Antenna/Cable source, but I may be wrong. I have 2 HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO’s as well both added and working, but they are both OTA for my area.
Other Things you could check: Does your CableTV Provider still support the CableCard system. Do you have a CableCard. Can you do a channel scan direct from the HDHomeRun and Does it find channels. Using HDHomeRun’s software can you watch TV on that device.
You are correct, I have the HDhomerun Quatro for OTA and the Prime Tuner for Cable TV, which does not require Cable Card to tune the available clear QAM channels. This configuration works perfectly with TVHeadend with no issues and with the Silicondust HDhomerun native app, all OTA and clear QAM Cable TV channels appear and tune without any issue. In the TVHeadend DVR function I manually configure the dates and hours that programs are airing and it flawlessly records them. The TVHeadend is installed on my QNAP NAS, thus it is available 24 hours a day all week. When I observed that there was also a Plex app available on my QNAP NAS, I decided to subscribe to Plex, which my fundamental objective is to have it for my local live TV tuning and DVR recording. But was again disappointed to find that past issues of the Plex live TV functions had not been addressed. I cannot add my HDhomerun Prime tuner after having setup my Quatro Tuner for OTA and the DVR recording schedule part of Plex refused to schedule and list some channels and their programming, responding that there are no “airings” for these, when I know for a fact that my local programming will air on those channels, but I can not find a way to bypass and force Plex to schedule the DVR for the date and hour of the event that I know unequivocally will occur. My be some days apps and cars while note required have anything to correct their steering, but until that time comes, one should have a way correct what the app incorrectly determined. I thank you for your interest and support with my issue.
Have you tried deleting the DVR then adding the Prime First and choosing your cable provider for the programing guide. and then adding the Quatro?
But I really don’t think Plex can have 2 different Programing guides for Live TV. So you may want to use the Cable Provider as the Guide then Manually match the OTA changes to their Cable equivalent. Click the X Enabled in the LTV&DVR settings
The only way to add a show to record in plex is from the Guide or if you search for the show.
I usually do this in the web app and not from any of my players connected to a TV. I also only set the settings for the DVR from the web app as well.
First upgrade the server version if you haven’t already, the client should have told you you need >= 1.22.2 but should be 1.24.5 or higher.
