I can view and play the live TV channels from my tuner card using my Mac app, but when I try to Pin the Live TV & DVR from my Plex media server, the Roku app doesn’t even find it.
In the Roku app they have merged what used to be “Live TV & DVR” with “Live TV”, and it is now just named “Live TV”. There will be a tab for your Live TV & DVR content in that. Possibly this is what you are seeing?
On my Roku Plex app, there is the “Live TV” tab for the Plex service, but on my local Plex Media Server, there used to be a “Live TV & DVR” tab which isn’t showing up as an option anymore, and there is no “Live TV” tab available either.
Like I mentioned before, on my macOS app, there is still a “Live TV & DVR” tab which connects to my Hauppauge WinTV-quad tuner card installed on my Ubuntu computer, and plays flawlessly.
Any other ideas what might be going on, or better yet, how to fix it on the Roku? It had been available up until just the last few days. I think there was a plexmediaserver update on Ubuntu this past week?
I used to have it pinned to the left. But as Plex changed the interface, they took it away from there.
The NEW experience on Roku is no longer showing “Live TV & DVR”. That is supposed to be merged into the “Live TV” category on the left, perhaps as a choice at the top of the screen or above the guide, but it is not there.
In fact, it is not ANYWHERE.
Absolutely nothing about my LOCAL guide or tuners is available in the new Roku app, despite Roku having told me when I launched it that that’s what’s supposed to happen.
They also told us this in their latest Plexcerpt:
** View channels from local live TV AND Plex Live TV in the same place.*
** “Favorite” channels from either source for super quick access (and customize the order of those favorites).*
** Browse your robust selection of Live TV quickly with genre filters.*
See that picture in the Plexcerpt? The one showing, at the top of the new guide screen, choices like “DVR My Server” and “Browse My Server”? On the new Roku app, nothing’s there but the word “Guide”. And that shows NOTHING other than the old Plex TV stuff.
This is not rocket science. In the new experience, they took the old “Live TV & DVR” out of the server area on the left (when you choose “More” at the bottom) and have put it in the permanent “Live TV” category. You can no longer see it in your actual server area. But because the new Roku app is BROKEN, you also cannot see it where they intended to put it, in the permanent “Live TV” category.
The Roku app is BROKEN in this regard. This is not in question. The only question is, when will Plex fix it? And will they fix it before they also update the desktop apps and remove ALL access to local live channels and DVR guide? That would be a hoot, wouldn’t it.
I had this problem with my Hisense Roku TV - the “Live TV & DVR” did not show up in the new integrated guide for managed users. Uninstalling the Plex app from the Roku TV and reinstalling it fixed the problem for me.
sigh. Completely unacceptable, really. Did no one actually validate the behavior of this new feature on Roku BEFORE shoving the release down our throats?
I’m sick and tired of the “always connected” world where updates just happen. Maybe I’d like to stay on my current version forever. And things like this would be why.
Thanks for the suggestion, but that’s what I’m saying, that the Live TV & DVR is no longer available under the More… option for Roku, but is still there on my macOS player.
Somehow it didn’t quite click as to what you were meaning.
What is confusing, and possibly due to me missing some sort of notification, is that my Live TV channels from my own Plex Media Server tuner card show up under the Live TV category listed under the Plex.tv service.
With it being served out of my local OTA tuner card, on my own plexmediaserver, it doesn’t make logical sense to not show Live TV as an available option there. Though, I do understand the simplicity of having it all under one unified Live TV category/tab.
An interface improvement suggestion for their Plex Pass members would be to simply list the tab under the local server as an option, but when selected as a pinned tab, state on that it will show up under the Plex.tv unified Live TV tab.
I’m having the same (or similar) problem. My “Live TV and DVR” is gone from where I had it pinned at the top of my menu. At the bottom, there is a “Live TV” option (where there wasn’t before because I had the Plex content hidden). Clicking on it reveals a categorized guide window where I assume my guide is supposed to be on one of the tabs, but on that tab I get a message of something like “Your guide is empty. Check channel mappings and refresh the guide.” No matter how many times I refresh the guide, nothing shows up here. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but nothing changes.
I’m able access my channels and the guide in a roundabout way by virtue of the “Recent Channels” on the Home screen. Once I choose a channel, I can then hit the back button and it will take me “back” to the guide I’m used to. I sure hope I don’t have to resort to this for long.
Doesn’t work for me either. When I go into the new “Live TV” section, I select the tab for my media server and I get back the error. “Your Guide is empty. Please verify your channel mappings and refresh the Guide”
I uninstalled the channel and re-installed it on the roku…no luck
I refreshed my guide on my media server…no luck.
