Live TV DVR not working on iOS/iPadOS

As for Apr28 2025 - using all the latest public updates for server and players on mac, iOS and iPadOS with Vbox XTi 3442.

Note: Live TV DVR works great on the Apple TV app (please, Plex, don’t break it with the updates!)

On the latest iOS and iPadOS apps Live TV DVR channels doesn’t work at all. They are not starting/not playing, however the EPG works fine and channels appears except the logos for some reason.

It also doesn’t work normally using a web player with Safari/Chrome on iOS device. Sometimes it starts the live stream after long delay, but it always transcodes the video to 720 as max option (server is set to not downscale the quality from original HD). When using Live TV DVR on mac Safari/Chrome browser - it works fine, but it has some hickup/delay at the start of play for some 5-8 sec for some reason when starting the channel.

As I mentioned - none of these issues are on the current Apple TV Plex app, so clearly this is related to the latest updates for players - please, Plex, fix that asap.

I just tried Live TV for the first time since the rewrite of the iOS/iPadOS versions and discovered this issue.

Screenshot shows the error:
“A server with the specified hostname could not be found” even though everything else works and Live TV works on Apple TV app

Hopefully the TestFlight Beta release next week Version 20 addresses the issue. The only work around at present are the Desktop apps and Server at present. :crossed_fingers:

ATV maybe addressed tomorrow with any luck

For me it was a dns issue, switching the iOS device to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 made it work, but it still transcodes to h264.
