Live TV /DVR - TVHeadend integration per TVHProxy Plugin?

Server Version#: 1.24.4.5081 on Synology NAS DS716II+ (DSM 6)
Player Version#: All
Tuner Make/Model: TVHeadEnd Server with Hauppauge WinTV DualHD Tuner

Since the USB DVB-C Tuner Hauppauge WinTV DualHD is not working with my Synology NAS, and so I can not directly use the Live TV / DVR option., I’m wondering how it is possible to grab the TV channels from my parallel running TVHeadEnd Server on my Raspberry Pi and the Hauppauge Tuner. I have found here the TVHProxy plugin which I have installed in the following folder /Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins . In the PlugIn section of the Plex Server the TVHProxy-Plugin is visible and was configured to the mentioned guide. My question is now, where can I find the possibility to see a TV channel? First I have thought it is necessary to run a channel search in the Live TV / DVR section, but there is no tuner vissible. Is it possible that my firewall on the Raspberry blocks anything? I hope anybody can help. Thanks

TVHProxy is not a Plex plug-in (those have been fully deprecated.) TVHProxy is a Python3 daemon that proxies traffic between PMS and tvHeadend. TVHProxy emulates an HDHomeRun tuner, doesn’t contain any thing other than IP addresses & ports, simply transfers traffic between PMS and tvHeadend, and needs to be running as it’s own daemon process customarily to use it as LiveTV.

Thanks for the info, but what does it mean for me? I have only followed the guideline, are here any other steps necessary? Sorry I’m a user and not a programmer with special Linux knowledge. Thanks

TVHProxy needs to run as it’s own service, just like tvHeadend. You will need a TVHProxy process running on your network where PMS can communicate with it, and where tvHeadend is visible. In other words, all 3 processes should be on the same network. Okay, for the other nerds around here, no, they really don’t, but it does make configuration easier if you’re not ears deep in networking and Linux. TVHProxy needs to be configured (you’ll need to use gedit/vi/vim/etc.,) with network info about tvHeadend. TVHProxy is a very light weight process, it should run on an rPi without any problems, and doesn’t have to run on the same system as either PMS or the tvHeadend hosts.

On tvHeadend’s Electronic Program Guide page, there’s a Watch TV button over on the far righthand side that’ll let you do some quick debugging for channel visibility. Honestly, until you’ve got that at least mostly working, TVHProxy is academic.

In my configuration, I use Plex’s EPG, and don’t bother loading any of that into tvHeadend, as I don’t do anything in tvHeadend without PMS involved.
