Which image supporting this plug-in looks the most on openpli?
A Plugin is nice - but as long as you need a plugin which is not running on all enigma2 boxes and maybe even need a special image with a patch included it’s only for a few users.
It would be better if the most work would be done by Plex and just uses the webif and stuff every enigma2 box provides
For example for me as a non developer it’s nearly impossible to modify and compile your plugin to use it on my vu+ boxes (along with dreamboxes the most sold enigma2 boxes in europe) with one of it’s by vu+ supported images made by VTI (also Blackhole is supported).
So i’d would be forced to use the image made by openatv or an other open alliance image wich get no manufacturer support and so lack on features and/or stability
after updating and installing everything i get the message that at least 2 tuners are needed … so out of luck i guess (vu+ zero)

not possible at all, enigma2 by itself can not do it alone, and is why i worked with plex to get this working. there are MANY images out there atm that have this plugin 
8 teams up to now, PLi will follow, openvix is working a pull request for them as they are to lazy to do the work themselves.
btw DreamBox is not the most sold at all, there are way more popular boxes in Europe than DM.

you kidding right!!! ??, the oe-alliance images are one of the most feature packed image, have you even tried my teams image (OpenVix), but use the image you want, it all about choice.

correct, as if you have the box out standby, it has no free tuners for plex ;), and plex has NO way of knowing if the box is in or out standby, so i made the decision to only allow it for 2+ boxes.
I installed openvix for Now and it is working what i tested.
Hopefully openpli Will add it to the feed so i can go back.

Depends on the bubble/world/environment you live in.
Well - i had some insights into the market from the wholesale+distributor side for several years and so i can say it really depends on the timeframe you look at - They sold a huge amount of enigma and enigma2 boxes for many years with nearly no competition (as both were originally developed by guys who are/were working for DMM like reichi,TripleDES, tmbinc, ghost)
If you only look at the last few years yes, then vu+ and a few others are now leading the market on new sales but there are still more dreamboxes out there as you might think.
But this doesn’t really matter. - Open Alliance Images are only a small part of the whole enigma2 world.
So as universal a solution as better.

Feature-packed yes if you count the number of every small change.
There are here and there very common (need to work on nearly all supported receivers) changes and nice things but if you are into the big selling points of this boxes and the latest stuff wich is are very close to the hardware and maybe need even driver support than only blackhole and vti are getting the full support (for example FCC support. It tool several month on open alliance images to work as good as on VTI. Just ask captain from openatv. He can tell you more)
And the same is similar on other boxes. - OA images are cool, featurepacked but very common. Specific things are earlier and better working images supported

any way to get around this? i would opt not using the box on a tv. I can’t get a second sat cable down here but would like to see how well it works

thats what i have done for the most part, my plugin will work and run for ALL boxes, BUT there is still a small patch that is required for E2, that allows plex to stop the stream there is no way around this, in normal E2 there is no way to stream a channel for a set period (lets say 30mins), and have the stream self terminate after this time, that what my patch does. Almost all teams have now adopted this patch including OE-A, PLi, OpenBlackHole, etc, not sure on VTi but they are more than welcome.
