Hi my friends,
I have a Plex Pass subscription on my Plex server, and I’ve also connected an HDHomeRun. I can watch live TV myself, but I can’t share the live TV with managed users. Where should I do this?
I can only share libraries with them when I add them as friends, but they can’t see my live TV.
I need some help, please.
It’s been a while since I’ve answered a lot of questions on these forums but if I recall correctly, Live TV from your tuner is only available to your managed users (typically family members and there are restrictions for managed users) and not for friends who can see your regular libraries.
Thank you for your reply. I must have misunderstood — I thought I could freely share my Live TV, not just with family members but with friends as well.
I couldn’t find any mention of this limitation anywhere on YouTube — not even from Plex’s biggest supporters like Lon.TV. It seems like this restriction has been quietly glossed over by everyone.
Honestly, I believe this limitation should be reconsidered and lifted. At the very least, Plex users should be clearly reminded of it through a pinned topic or a global announcement.

It is fully intentional. It has been that way pretty much from the start.
You can find out the reason for this when googling Aereo.
So it won’t change anytime soon, I presume.
