When will live tv be available for the Roku app?
When its ready.
I would argue probably one emergency point release before it’s ready 
… and after it’s ready for Roku, we need it for Amazon Fire devices. Whenever it’s ready, that is.

If the feature is planned, it would be on a schedule or at least have a

I don’t intend to be rude, but you haven’t been following the DVR feature for very long, have you?

Plex does not release ETAs for upcoming releases. Asking the question will only result in posts like you’ve just read.

The good folks developing the Plex DVR feature do not have a history of providing end users with a product roadmap, or a timeline in which it will be available.
Those of us that have been testing the DVR since announcement have waited patiently while watching features like Plex cloud and hardware transcoding get the attention only to be teased with minor back to back updates with just bug fixes over the last year. This last drought was like 3 or 4 months and ended with a nice big surprise.
And that’s fine, that’s just how they do things. I was merely saying that this is the way it’s always been, and what you said that basically eluded to “if a feature is planned they have to have a schedule or a status” is a hard no. That’s not the way things are done with Plex features.
That’s why you keep getting the same answer:
It will be ready when it’s ready.
Nobody here is being rude to you. That’s just the way it is. Don’t be surprised if Roku doesn’t see live tv for 1 month, 3 months, 8 months, a year, etc. It will happen when it happens. Depends on how big of a priority it is to the Plex team.
Ok I guess, but that’s not how I develop software. Especially for paying
clients.
