After several years of near-perfect operation, my Plex home streaming set-up has started giving problems. My set-up is as follows:
Plex server, (latest build - Version 1.43.0.10467) is running on a PC with a AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor, 32Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card and a Hauppauge WinTV dualHD DVB TV tuner card.
The PC is connected to the internet via Ethernet. The host TVs on the local network are all on a 2.5GHz or 5GHz network and the slowest download speed recorded has been 35Mbps.
When streaming HD material from the PC’s hard disc, streaming works perfectly. However, when streaming live TV from the Hauppauge TV tuner card (via Plex’ in-built DVR feature), the picture continually buffers, then completely stops with Plex displaying the message: “Playback Error”.
This happens on six different TVs, so that indicates to me that this is a ‘settings’ issue, although I have not changed anything to cause this.
For further information, I have the following settings in Plex:
--Internet streaming speed: ‘12Mbps, 1080p’ (I have tried dropping this to no avail).
--Limit remote stream bitrate : ‘12Mbps, 1080p’ (I have also tried dropping this to no avail).
--Client network: ‘IPv4 and IPv6’ ((I have tried changing this to IPv4 only to no avail).
--Transcoder quality: ‘Prefer higher quality encoding’.
--Use hardware-accelerated video encoding is ‘enabled’.
--Hardware transcoding device: ‘NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti’.
Also, importantly, if I stream TV directly from an app on any TV (e.g. iPlayer or ITVX), the stream plays back perfectly, so this issue only seems to be affecting the streaming of live TV signals from the Hauppauge tuner card.
I am at a loss where to look to solve this problem. Can you help?
