Live TV not playing on Plex Web browser or Plex apps for Apple Devices

I recently received an older HDHomeRun DUAL (HDHR-EU) from a friend and I’m trying to get it working properly with Plex.

Location: Australia
Network: UniFi (wired connection)

Setup Details

  • Live TV works perfectly using the HDHomeRun program on Windows 11, as well as the HDHomeRun app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
  • My Plex server is installed on a Synology DS224+.

Issue

  • I successfully added the tuner to Plex. Under Live TV & DVR, Plex displays:
  • Channel Source: Freeview (59 channels)
  • Tuner Status: 2 green dots
  • IP Address and Model: Detected correctly
  • The full Australian TV guide and all channels appear as expected.
  • However, whenever I try to play a channel, Plex buffers then shows the following error:
  • Playback Error: Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.

Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

That is a really old tuner, last firmware update for it was 20100828.

The log says the connection was reset by peer (HDHR), on this model you need to also include the Plex Tuner Service.log which would have been included if you downloaded the entire log bundle.

The firmware on my device is 20230505.

Could the issue be related to the fact that I only have one antenna cable connected? I noticed the device supports two connections.

It does need an antenna source on both connectors, basically it is two separate tuners packaged into a box. Newer devices have an internal splitter for the tuner chips.
