Trying to get a bit of help here. When ever I stream Live TV to my Nvidia Shield the audio stream does not come through. Best I can tell, this comes down to a transcoding issue as any other device capable of streaming Live TV does so without issue (but is also transcoding down to accommodate the device). No matter what settings I give Plex, it refuses to transcode Live TV on the fly for the Shield. Both the Shield and Server have been on the same network as well as separate networks but no change. Could you guys let me know if there is some way to force this? Am I missing something? I am more than happy to provide any other information that might be needed to troubleshoot or otherwise resolve this.
Shield directly to the TV, then it should get piped from the TV to the AV unit via ARC-HDMI. Looks like it’s an issue with Plex+Live TV+ARC, as I’ve gotten proper audio only once the AV unit was unplugged from HDMI entirely. I had tried every possible combination of audio settings from the Shield, AV unit, TV, and Plex but nothing worked and honestly, I have no idea why. I thought ARC was generally pretty fool-proof.
I believe this is an issue with ARC.
I take it the AV receiver does not have HDMI ports as to why you are going to the TV first rather than the AV receiver first then to the TV. I have not experienced this issue when going to the AV first.
The AV unit doesnt have a HDMI hub/multi-port setup to HDMI out. Suppose I might give optical or analog a try. Just sucks that I cant use my AV properly now.
Analog does not work either, cant find my optical cable but i suspect that will yield similar results. Still getting sounds everywhere in every scenario…except live tv. So this is not an ARC issue in and of itself. It looks like a matter of how Plex is streaming the audio. Will investigate further but this will probably need to be patched up in the next update.
Plex Peeps: Hopefully youve seen this, but please investigate if you can. More than happy to provide logs from Plex and/or the Shield.
It’s has to be just the Live Tv play back all the other play backs work find I’m using Nvidia Shield for both of my tvs. The audio works on my Samsung 8+.
