I am trying to replace Windows Media Center because Windows 10 disables it. I can watch TV on the MC but when I install Plex I do not see a way to watch TV live on the Plex server. I am not concerned about watching TV live or not from other devices, I just want to watch it from the local plex server which is a Windows 7 PC now but I want to upgrade to Windows 10 soon.
I do have Plex Pass.
I also have some Hauppauge PCI tuners that it will not see but it does see my HD HomeRun tuner.
Does anyone know how many tuners are supported?
Which Hauppauge tuners do you have. I do not see why you couldn’t run PMP on the same system as the PMS. You could probably even run the windows client if you have w10 on it. The problem i see is with Live TV right now. Idon’t think any of those options include Live TV.
You could use a web browser, but a better choice would be the Plex Media Player. You can find it at plex.tv/apps/computer/plex-media-player/
Another option is the Plex Meda Player 2 beta (since you are a Plex Pass member). It is very nice. You can find an announcement on August 24 at forums.plex.tv/discussion/190085/plex-media-player

I have the WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo times 2.
Plex doesn’t see them installed or that I can use them currently, not sure if there is an article on how to get it to see them.

My wife brought up the fact that we do have an LG smart TV and I think I can run the Live TV from that, instead of directly from the Media Center / Plex PC.

You can record TV from the app, but not watch live TV. I only have the beta app running at home so I am not quite sure about live TV on it.

Your wife is correct, but you won’t be able to pause/rewind/fastforward live TV directly from the LG TV. I have an LG TV with WebOS 3.0 and the current Plex app does not support DVR/Live TV features.

Plex Media Player. That’s the one that I told you to go try the beta version and see if it supports Live TV. It lets you control the DVR, but I don’t think it lets you view Live TV at this point.
Can you just use the browser on the computer. The local browser client supports live tv

Yes, it does, but I am not thinking I will be able to get my Logitech Harmony remote to control the browser player. But that does solve my original issue. Just wish the application worked in this way.
I will have to dig into this when I get home from work today.
