I’ve read a bunch and found plenty of folks experience poor Live TV performance, but nothing that closely resembles what I’m experiencing.

PMS: Windows 10 X64 on core i7 7700K
NVidia Shield (2017)

When first starting live TV, the picture is smooth, but over time (generally less than 5 minutes) develops a steady and regular judder. Extremely noticeable when a streamer is displayed or fast motion is present. Sub-second Judder that appears to be at a consistent interval.
This anomaly does not occur on a Windows 10 device using the PLEX web app.
LiveChannels on the Shield also does not exhibit the anomaly.
It very much seems to be the PLEX app on the Shield. The PLEX app works on other devices and the Shield works fine with an alternate app.
For the moment I’m using Livechannels on the Shield for live TV, but would really like for PLEX to be the go-to Live TV solution. Any ideas what could be root cause, or how to bring resolution?
Does this happen on all your channels or only on 1080i channel?
I have a shield and I see this behavior after 10 minutes on continuous watching a 1080i channels. I see the same behavior watching a 1080i recording. Doesn’t happen on 720p channels.
Exoplayer on Shield TV if deinterlacing (1080i channels) is used is broken since years. No one is interested in fixing it. VLC e.g. works fine on Shield TV with deinterlacing. Watching live sport events on 1080i channels is a bad experience.

Thanks so much for the responses. For kicks, I plugged in a FireTV (4K, non-stick) in place of the Shield and the judder is completely gone but I can easily see the interlacing on panning, so it must be 1080i ( CBS off of Mt Mansfield, VT ). For sure, the shield eliminates the interlacing, but the judder that starts in makes it unwatchable. I guess PLEX on Shield is not a good Live TV solution.
I understand FOX is 720p…I’ll try that to see if I note the lack of judder.
LiveChannels seems to be pretty good, so i guess I’ll stick with that. Thanks again for the responses.
I’m cautiously optimistic. After upgrading to the Shield Experience 6.0 (which just showed available today), Plex is doing a much better job of displaying Interlaced live TV on the Shield.
