Hello,
I tried searching for my issue but wasn’t sure what to call it. So if this has come up somewhere else please let me know.

I run Plex on a windows computer and connect to my library via Roku devices. We use this system for Live TV via the HD Homerun device. Previously while watching a live tv channel you could push the up button on the remote and it would bring up the channel guide and keep the video smaller on the screen. This no longer works. Pressing up does nothing.

(You can press down to see channels you have viewed recently, however that isn’t working well either. They do not update their content once you start viewing a live stream. So if you watch a long program, it could be off by several hours and is no longer accurate.)

Instead you have to push the back button to get to the guide. And while this works if you decide not to change the channel you have to be sure to navigate back to that channel or else it will tune to whatever you have selected. Or, hitting back exists the live tv section all together.

Really I just want to be able to press up while viewing a live channel and see the guide. Is that available anymore??

Tia!

I have a ‘hide guide’ button on mine, just above the grid on the left hand side? Do you see that?

So when I am in the grid if I press back, it jumps to a button called ‘my channels’ and to the left is hide guide. It is still a bit annoying as I still get caught out pressing back too many times and end up back in the menus.

Hi, thanks for the response.

Yes, if I select the back button while viewing a channel the guide opens. If I elect to not change the channel I can select Hide Guide, however, this requires one to navigate back to the top of the guide and select it. Arguably even less efficient than finding the current channel when you have scrolled to the bottom of the channel guide, which is often the case.

Previously, I’d press up to view the guide. This would shrink the live video to a small box on the top right allow me to still view the program. If I didn’t find anything I wanted to change to I could press back and be back in full screen of the previously selected program.

Yep, I don’t disagree… I got very accustomed to pressing Up too.

I’ve found pressing back while on the grid should jump to near the hide guide button which will avoid the scrolling to the top but annoyingly it doesn’t jump to the hide guide button itself. Instead the button next to it which doesn’t actually do anything, so you next an extra click to move over.

I have noticed this too and miss this ability. The new way to navigate between the guide and what you’re watching is definitely a step backward.

Everyone can hide and unhide the guide without scrolling any channels. We can also scroll large blocks of channels at a time by pressing fast forward and rewind buttons while on the guide. Pressing up was originally my go to method but the optimizations the guide has now is MUCH better performance wise as the app is no longer crashing 10+ times per day after switching a handful of channels.

I find that the app crashing 10+ times per day was much more of an issue than the current guide functionality. It’s actually a step forward in this aspect.

Good work @ljunkie

Thanks for the feedback. I can’t say that I experienced the crashing as frequently as you described.

I still believe/prefer the up button method as it was a much simpler/intuitive solution that required fewer button pushes.

Does anyone know if the up option will return?

Thanks!

I would like it to return. Ask the guy I tagged in my post above. He’s the one who would do it.

Hello @ljunkie , What say you?
