Plex is running on Truenas Scale charts app, there is a ARC380 card in the system, problem happens even if I turn off all transcoding. I have tried Plex app on the PC, web client with Chrome and IOS app on iphone, all give theme problem.

Whatever channel I stream, it’ll start fine but after a minute will freeze, 10/15 seconds later stream will restart and be ok for another minute then same and eventually time out.

Looking at the logs in the Tuner, I see the following:

20240830-14:48:09 Tuner: tuner0 tuning 4.1 CBOT-DT (8vsb:539MHz-3)
20240830-14:48:09 Tuner: tuner0 streaming http to 192.168.7.5:31717

20240830-14:54:12 Tuner: tuner0 http stream ended (remote closed)

Signal strength is excellent

Virtual Channel 4.1 CBOT-DT

Program Number 3
Modulation Lock 8vsb
Signal Strength 100%
Signal Quality 98%
Symbol Quality 100%
Streaming Rate 14.318 Mbps

I heavily used livetv during the Olympics and everything was fine, was able to watch 4+ hours without issue.

Using the HDHomeRun app on my PC I am able to watch without issue

The more I poke around with this, it’s obvious a Plex issue, is there any hope it’ll get fixed sometime soon?

Good luck. I have a similar issue which appears to be being actively ignored by Plex support.
I want my money back.

There are a number of people experiencing similar posting on Reddit too.

Docker on TrueNas is likely why no one is jumping in here.

You can post your Docker file to provide information on what networking is specified. Right now it looks like you have a pretty wide “Allowed Networks” specified with the clients not responding in a timely manner to the Plex Server.

This is usually where it is revealed that you are not using host networking in your docker because you have many other things running.

intersting… i have this same issue, sometimes also with movies or tv shows. clicking the ‘rewind’ button for a second and hitting play resolves it but it happens quite a bit.

i’m running the latest stable version of PMS on win10 IoT enterprise… so, it doesn’t seem to be an issue with folks running it as a docker instance or a vm in truenas.

So, I’m currently testing a potential solution. My setup is different from yours but maybe there are some similarities you can draw from. I was only experiencing issues with streaming live tv. Recordings and movies were fine.

My setup was working fine for months and then suddenly started presenting issues similar to yours a number of weeks ago. I hadn’t changed any configuration anywhere when it started to become temperamental.

I had my shield (PMS) running a beta version (details are in a separate post I made). On the shield network settings I had set up static ip and manually assigned DNS addresses.

I uninstalled the PMS beta version and reinstalled the latest public release. I then changed the LAN static ip reservation on my router settings to a different ip. Then changed the shield network settings from my manual entries to DHCP. Set up port forwarding again on the router and am now testing. 24 hours so far and haven’t had the stream stop/server briefly disappear since. Previously it would happen on any device (including the shield) regardless of whether the viewing device was on the LAN or over the internet.

I have the same problem on my Roku with HomeRun Flex Duo. Live stream playback either freezes or reloads every few minutes. Fast forwarding recovers it. Just started doing it. Clearly some kind of regression in the latest release, this same setup has been working fine for me for years.

I tried lowering the data rate in the app’s Video settings, and that seems to help. It doesn’t eliminate the problem, but it happens way less often. Which suggests maybe it’s a bug in buffering code somewhere in the new Plex all release on Roku.

Still working.

Is there any way to submit a bug report to Plex and track the status? I can’t find anything in the documentation, but I do see forum topics which start with [BUG REPORT]. How are those created? I’m still experiencing the issue of live video streams from my HD HomeRun stopping or reloading periodically. I see the issue only on my Roku, so far I haven’t experienced it on my iPad. I imagine others are experiencing the same problem, and may not know how to report it.

I thought I’d solved it but it’s still not working. Same symptoms. Nobody at Plex is listening. They’re too busy rolling out features that few people want and retiring features that people do want.

I think it’s time I emailed Keith Valory, the CEO directly.
