Plex for Windows Live TV stops after 5 mins

Plex for Windows will play Live TV for about 4-5 mins, then the video will close and go back to the guide as if I had closed it.

The issue does not happen on the iOS app on 2 different iOS devices in the household, as well as a Roku device. Seems to be only Plex for Windows.

I see the same issue. It happens for managed users but not the admin account. The issue is not experienced using Roku.

I tried the admin account and it did go for about 10 mins until the end of a show. Once it reached the end, it seemed to jump about 5 mins backwards in time and resumed playing from there?!?

I’ll have to keep trying the admin account on Windows to see if there is a difference.

Are you using the play icon on the channel number or the one on the program listing?

I’ve confirmed the issue exists whether using the play icon on the channel number or the program listing play icon.

I use the program listing but I will try the channel.

Channel doesn’t make a difference. Also noticed that even in the admin account, at the end of a show it goes back to the beginning of the show instead of the next show. This actually caused a big problem as I was watching a show I was recording. When the show was over, it froze (I’m guessing because it tried to go back). Plex Media Server had closed even though Plex for Windows was still running. I also lost the recordings I was doing as well.

What is the release cycle for the Windows client? Will a fix for this make it in?

Upgraded Plex for Windows a couple of days ago to 1.20.0.1406-f47a81b7. Issue is still present. Is anyone from Plex actually looking into this?

Upgraded Plex Media Server to 1.20.3.3401-ea77aa162, issue still persists.

Same with Plex Media Server 1.20.2.3402.

Please provide a log from the app after this happens. Indicate approximately what time the playback stopped.

I’ve had this issue as well, but seems to work after I updated to the beta branch version: 1.20.3.3421

Do I need to enable logging somewhere?

Upgraded to PMS 1.20.3.3437 and the issue is still there.

No such luck. Were you running Plex through a web broswer or the Windows app? The issue only happens there, not on iOS, Roku, etc.

I have player logs when the issue occurs. Is there a place I can send?

Plex freezes on Android TV boxes, has for a while now.
As someone suggested re-booting the HDHR, well that didn’t work for me. I tried some “live TV” and sure enough after a few minutes it freezes. Like it alwasys does. (Live TV is worthless on my android box, the Roku is fine.) When I leave plex I get a prompt on the Android TV home screen that the Live TV program is still playing in Plex. So with options open or close, I try open, that just takes me to the Plex home screen. Again if I leave plex it says the live tv session is playing the program that froze. So I choose close.
