Hi Guys,
I would like to integrate live TV.
Unfortunately, as I have seen, my Elgato Netstream 4C is not listed in the compatible list.
Also, it will not be found on the device add.
Is there any experience if and how it could work?
Just Plex DVR set up clicked - Plex finds no compatible devices, input of the IP address does not help either.
My configuration:
Elgato Netstream 4C, Firmware 1.1.0402r1-V1
PMS = Synology DS718 +
Player = MacBook Pro OSX 10.13.4 with Plex MPlayer Version 2.8.0.813
iPad, iPhone iOS 11.3
I was checking on geniatech (they took over from Elgato in terms of continuing the EyeTV brand and products) … the 4C (Cable) looks different than the Sat one. It also does not have a SAT>IP logo, which is the standard that the PlexDVR backend should support for scanning.
Can you try a native (not ! the EyeTV application) SAT>IP tool and see if you can scan the device? Then you will know…
You can always use TVH + Proxy with this one if remember correctly.
iPhonedation - Thank you for the answer,
I would have entered the IP address of Elgato, but unfortunately it was not recognized.
Do I understand it correctly, there is a SAT IP tool?
What I found about Google are SAT tools but not if the necessary standard for Plex (IP logo) is met.
I do not understand the TVH + proxy.
Greetings - Hans
Hans, there is tools like DVBViewer (Windows) or SAT>IP Viewer (mac) that can actually connect to any device following the specs and search for channels. That said, there is also apps like the one from Elgato, but they likely do not support non-SAT for the “SAT>IP” specs (although the specs have been amended by the consortium).
TVH - is a headless DVR that runs on Linux/UNIX clones (mac, BSD,…). You can use this in conjuntion with a “Proxy” software that will mimic the HDHR messaging so that PlexDVR will think this is an HDHR device and give you the connection you need.
Search for tvhProxy here in the forum or on github. (there are also some for VDR, Enigma, etc)
As far as I can see myself there is no out of the box solution for Elgatos DVB-C Netstream currently, so you either have to fiddle with a Proxy solution.
Cheers
A
PS: In case you have more question PM me, so we do no pollute this forum. English, German or Dutch language
I digged a bit … the 4C does not by default come with a working SAT>IP compliant backend activated. You are able to activate this somehow, google around a bit. There seems to to be a setting in “Expert mode” that is called “emulate SAT>IP for DVB_C”.
Several people from hifi-forum and dvbviewer forum have discussed this there.
Hello again,
Thanks for the information.
Unfortunately I can not do that because I have the cable version.
The secondary links no longer exist.
Elgato: They will not open it because I saw an Elgato SAT>IP app for about 50 Euros (Elgato to Elgato). So they have no interest in opening it. Too bad.
I also have a Panasonic DMR-BCT850/855 cable receiver. Only that does not work with Plex either - at least not immediately. But the new version of Elgato EyeTV recognizes the BCT850 as a SAT>IP server. That works right away. Channel search and ready. Conclusion: I trash the NetStream hardware.
Remains the subject Plex with Panasonic DMR-BCT850 / 855.
I have to google it, maybe it needs a port? I only entered the IP under DVR configuration.
Greetings - Hans
