Local media assets problem

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4282
Player Version#: independent

The Local Media Assets Agent overwrites the title from the mpeg metadata even if I move LMA at the end of the agent list. If I disable it works well.

Please, fix it.
Thanks

I think you have some misunderstanding here. The “Local Media Assets” agent is used to read the content of the file’s embedded title meta tag (only from supported file types).

  1. What file format does this file use?
  2. Which kind of library is this? (Movie, TV SHow, Other Videos)
  3. Which agent is set as default for this library? (Edit your library to find out. You will find the setting on the ‘Advanced’ tab.)
  4. Please determine the content of the guid="... property from the Plex XML info of this item.

I use “Local Media Assets” to handle extra files (trailers, uncut scenes, etc), it works fine, but I think it shouldn’t overwrite the title if an earlier Agent already set it. I read on forums that I have to move LMA to the end of the agent list, but it didn’t solve my problem.

  1. mp4
  2. Movie
  3. “Plex movie (Legacy)” (but I can reproduce it with other agents as well)
  4. com.plexapp.agents.imdb://tt5363618?lang=hu

Thank you for your help!

That’s correct.
Under
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie (Legacy)
to be precise.

After doing so, did you Refresh Metadata of this movie?

Yes, exactly. And I clicked “Refresh Metadata” as well.

But the title remains the original read from mp4 metadata.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks

More info: I created a new folder with exactly the same settings, contains only this movie. It works fine, the title of the movie is the expected.

Maybe it helps.

Go to the “Edit” screen of this movie.
Is the orange lock engaged on the movie title?
If so, disengage it, by clicking on it.

No, it doesn’t.

I wonder…
What happens if you remove the content of the title meta tag from your movie file?
You can use e.g. mp3tag to do it.

(For speed reasons, you better do it directly on the machine which is hosting the video file.)

Removing metadata solves the problem, but Plex should handle this situation without changing the movie files.

This was intended as a test.
Now we can almost be sure that Plex doesn’t honor the order of the legacy agents anymore.

I think Plex should do it. Regardless of the (earlier) agents, “Local Media Assets” should keep the fields earlier set (eg. title).

Could you tell me a case when it isn’t the expected behavior?

What is the reason for the order of the agents if not this?

Thanks

I think you misunderstood.
This behaviour is clearly a bug.

However, I cannot recreate it on my test system.

Please verify the health of your Plex database file, by doing this:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

Hi Otto,
I have restarted Plex, and fortunately, none of these texts were found.

Thanks

Do you happen to have any 3rd-party agents installed? i.e. could you make a screenshot of
Settings - Server - Agents - Plex Movie (Legacy)
