Local trailers, not for films in my library

Hi all, I recently got very excited when I discovered the trailer function in the server. However, I have a large collection of trailers that are not all for films that are on my server; still, would really like to be able to be able to have those trailers randomly play in front of whatever I’m watching (I have little interest in the new-in-theatre option. Is this possible? Is there a way of having a separate folder just for trailers that Plex can dip into whenever I watch something? I’d really like to have trailers for Enter The Ninja or Vengeance the Demon play regardless of wether they’re in my library.

There isn’t an exact way to do this. Plex needs to match the trailer to the movie so if there isn’t a movie, there won’t be a trailer.

A work-around I used before cinema trailers was a thing was to create a library for movies I don’t have. Than add the trailer and name it as the movie. I then make a symlinked copy and name it as the trailer. Now these trailers are available to be shown. If you just want to watch trailers, which my kids love to do, just shuffle the entire library, which will play the movies that are actually trailers.
