Local vs. Online Movie Extras Divider + changes to Movie Extra metadata options and playback screen

I’m a bit of a completion-ist when it comes to my Plex Library. I do full MKV copies of all my Blu-Ray collection. This includes the main feature as well as all the extras on disc. Arranging the files as described here allows Plex to display said extras in-line with the movies they correspond to on the pre-play screen in Plex Clients. Plex also now pulls in Extra content directly from the internet (Plex Pass only? Not sure). This feature is great– it often includes extras not included on disk. Most of them are very short, but its nice to have them available. That being said, most of the high quality behind the scene, longer length featurettes extras are included on disk only.

With all of this in mind, what I’d like to request is that there be a clear visual distinction between Extra content which is accessed locally, and that which is pulled in from the internet. They are already separated in the list of extras, but there is no indication of where local Extras end and where online extras start. The Extra content provided by us locally should take priority over the content accessed from the internet and be displayed first, as they already are. Then there should be a divider which separates local extras from extras accessed over the internet.

Also of note, though of lesser concern, with movie extra functionality in Plex is the fact that there is no meta-data associated with them–Descriptions, posters, anything like that– but Plex still uses the standard playback screen for movie extras in the web player. It expects there to be a movie poster, but there isn’t, so it just zooms in on a random frame. Its pretty bad looking. The web player either should not show a “poster” at all with movie extras, or they should be user customizable. Picking a frame, importing a poster for any “short” extras, etc. The ability to add a description would also be nice, because almost all extras included on disk have descriptions listed on the back of the box. Preserving those would be nice as well.

If you feel similarly, please +1 this post specifically. Thanks!
