"Locked" Fields getting overwritten. [Bug]

So, according to [This Thread] (Lock feature does not work - Can we get this fixed, seriously!), this bug should have been fixed back in March 2017, but I had it happen twice today with a ‘TV Show’.

To get my MCU stuff to all go in an organized combined timeline (TV Shows and Movies), since you can’t make smart playlists that pull from multiple libraries, I made a “Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies” series for me to put my MCU films in. Copied over all the data as it showed up in my movie library.

Obviously, “Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies” isn’t a TV Series, so it won’t find a series that matches the title. I would expect it to leave my locked fields alone, but instead it keeps blanking them and renaming them just “Episode 1” and the like.

It seems to respect them for the date fields, so they stay where they go in the timeline, but it keeps erasing the name.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this (as I suspect) a bug?

You have few options. Matched items are the ONLY items that hold locked fields. UnMatched Items constantly try to match - blowing away your locked fields.

Options:

  1. name and structure all material to be in compliance with Plex Naming and Structuring Guidelines - Separating Movies and TV Shows - so you can get a match with the online databases.

  2. match, or select as library default Personal Media Agent - then hand edit every single item.

  3. Use an Other Videos Library.

Have a great day.

No need to change your library’s default metadata agent.

You can use the ‘Match’/‘Fix Match’ procedure to match your “custom show” to the Personal Media agent individually.

How do I do that? I dont see it in edit.

You don’t do it in ‘edit’.
You go to the highest “level” of your tv show – i.e. where you can see the list of seasons.
Then you click on the vertical ellipsis up, right
and pick Match or Fix Match
Then click on ‘Search Options’
and change the ‘Agent’ selector to ‘Personal Media (Shows)’
click ‘Search’
and then click onto the only “search result” in the next screen.

Gotcha. Switched it to “Personal Media”. There was no search result or a next screen though, clicking on that brings you back to the main show page, so I can’t see if it worked. When I go back in it’s back on auto-match, and I have to set it again.

Here’s hoping it takes. Otherwise, the “Personal Media” setting is broken. I’ll re-fill everything out and see if it keeps it this time. Thanks!

You can verify the outcome by inspecting the Plex media info XML of one of the episodes.
If the guid= contains the word ‘local’, the item is still “unmatched”.
If it however contains the word ‘personal’, it has been successfully matched to the ‘Personal Media’ agent.
