I'm interested in this project as a way to move away and sell my old Core2Duo Mac Mini.
Will the Logitec Harmony Remote be supported as it is the only way I can keep the Family using the A/V system without freaking out.

If it is supported by XBMC and OpenELEC it should work OOB.
Totally, I have rasplex running with a VRC-1100 USB IR receiver (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Hama_MCE_Remote). My remote is
a Logitech Xbox 360 version (based on 500 series I believe). Works perfectly for me and is an awesome remote in general.
What type of device/manufacturer/model do you set up for the Logitech Harmony remote? Some variation of Media Center PC?
There is a plex device listed in the harmony database but I haven't got round to trying it yet. Will
check the exact device when I get home, fairly certain that yes it was Media Center PC.
Are you using a USB IR receiver or are you using the GPIO for your IR?

My Pi is on order but once it arrives I'll try it with a USB IR receiver first, until the official case it out with the integrated GPIO IR receiver.
I don’t know about how other folks do this. I can tell you I have a Harmony One remote (Logitech) and I just set up a “streaming” activity and since I have a Smart TV, just use the TV controls to access the Media Link menu on the TV and it works quite well. Just had to manually assign buttons in the Harmony app on the PC and upload to remote.

Ok so the receiver I have is the one that came with the VRC-1100. (Maplins in the UK listed it as N18HC) Its a little red case with USB lead

I used the remote above for a while and it worked perfectly, especially liked the round pad which gave mouse cursor full control.
But wanted to use the Logitech like I do for everything else. Mine is the Xbox 360 one which looks like

In the harmony software the device shows as Media Center PC and when you hover over it the label says Ortek VRC-1100.
Hope that helps
Thanks everyone. Once my Pi arrives I'll start playing around with RasPlex and my Logitech Harmony remote via a USB receiver and CEC from the TV itself.
Would someone once explain me the mapping of key - what you guys selected in the logitech web interface.
Not sure what you are asking. I can tell you that you have to select your devices in the Logitech Harmony desktop application and then you can setup “Activities” there are buttons in the application that let you customize keys. In there you select, for example: TV and then use the pulldowns to associate remote buttons with TV actions.
Hope that helps.

@smirk - I believe you set up the RasPlex device as a Media Center PC in the Logitech software interface.

actually a lot of people setup their harmony's here: http://www.myharmony.com/ and they don't have a profile for plex HT / XBMC
update: I'm been using my harmony with the FLIRC usb adapter, and everything it's working flawless,
they actually upload a profile to the silverlight app on: http://www.myharmony.com/ just in case, brand: FLIRC model: XBMC
Just got Rasplex running on my RPI with FLIRC and my Harmony 1100i
I had to do the following;
1) Add the FLIRC device from the Harmony application i.e. "Computer>Home Theatre PC>Manufacturer: FLIRC > Brand: XBMC"
2) Using the FLIRC application (http://flirc.tv/downloads/) from my Mac, train the FLIRC with the commands from the Harmony (up, down, left, right, ok)
Add FLIRC back to the RPI and reboots.
Worked first time after that.
I'm looking to pick up one of the Harmony remotes, I see the 300 can be bought relatively cheaply here. Is the 300 supported just like any of the others?
I've just picked up a RemotePi, so I'm assuming these can all work together nicely??? I'm hoping....
Why do we have to use FLIRC? For harmony smart control, I can use bluetooth on OSMC and OpenElec and it works perfectly. I can connect with Rasplex but harmony keyboard entry doesn't work... anyone know why it works on everything but Rasplex??
I started using my Harmony with an IR Blaster without issues. Below is what I used to get it working:
USB IR Blaster (this one) that I trained to use my Pi 2. The commands it accepts to my knowledge is:
Info- Brings up information when watching a movie
Back
Scroll Up, Down, Left, Right
Ok/Enter
Play
Stop
Pause
FF
RW
*It also supports power down, but not power on with my IR blaster so I just disabled it
There was also 2/3 other commands that "did something" but it brought Plex to a dead screen so I wasn't sure what it was even meant to do, since my Device on the Harmony has 0 commands built in I get left those out.
For my Harmony Device, I actually selected the Raspberry Pi, as the device has nothing setup on it to begin with.
The only thing somewhat annoying is hitting back on the Harmony doesn't exit a video, so I have to always remember to hit stop. Not sure if this is a bug in RasPlex, PHT or just the remotes. On my fireTV back was smart enough to format.
