Looking for Apple TV 4/4K Beta Testers

I love the Apple TV app – great work! I use Plex exclusively for music playback so I would gladly be a beta tester in the future.

Relatedly, it appears that the Apple TV 4k converts my 24 bit 96kHz direct play ALAC files down to 48kHz and possibly down to 16 bit. I hear a marked difference between playback on the Apple TV versus my Mac Mini using the same DAC and other equipment. Can you direct me to where it is best to have this discussion. Perhaps it’s a limitation of the Apple TV but it seems unreasonable that the Apple TV can play 4k video however still can’t play native hi resolution files.

Is Catch still being updated? developed?

I would be interested in testing from the perspective of an audio user. Let me know — thanks

Hi,

looks like a great App, congratulations! Maybe a stupid question: Is it possible to implement a “vertical shift” function for 21:9 content to shift it at the bottom of a screen? That would be awesome!

Thanks + BR
Peter

I am interested, but not possible to register at Beta Tester:

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten, bitte kontaktieren Sie den Hersteller der Applikation: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> There is no route for the path ‘users/pre/int’.

Still being updated/developed, just unfortunately a lower priority due to the fact that it doesn’t make any money (yet, hopefully :)).

Definitely possible, rather easily so tbh, the harder part is building the UI for the setting!

Just want to clarify, you’d want a single larger black bar at the top rather than the standard half and half on the top/bottom? Is this something the official Plex app does?

Hi Shnhrrsn,

Yes, you are 100% right! It would be awesome

…No, official app does not and i got never an answer from the Devs. How can i get your beta app? Link does not work anymore…

Many thanks and BR
Peter

I hope you continue development.

I’m glad you kept Catch alive but it still keeps sending me to Plex.tv/link to put in the code. That happens almost every time I open it, so it’s too hard to test much else.

@itzme Sorry didn’t touch auth in this release, but I definitely want to get this resolved for you! Can you tell me a little bit about your setup? Are you using multiple users/pins, etc?

My Plex account is a single user, with 1 friend. I use my servers and my friend’s server equally. Last version of Catch I didn’t have a Plex pass, now I do. But I’ve had this issue for the past 2 Catch versions. It makes me reathorize with the 4 digit code after Two or three app openings, if time goes by, and always after a full app close. I don’t have this issue with Plex itself or MrMc using Plex client services. What else can I tell you.

Enabling 4 digit pin security will always ask you for the code unless there is an option in Catch that will remember it and auto sign you in just like the Plex app. Plex app has those options implemented.

Are you saying that I (the user) did something to enable this 4 digit pin? or that the dev needs to do something to make it stay logged in? I don’t recall doing anything, selecting any option about signing in.

For a beta Looks good. Is it possible to use Movie Description from PlexServer ? I am German and all description is now in English…

It sounds like Catch isn’t able to retrieve the user from disk and logging you out. Before 2 versions ago, this info was stored exclusively in keychain which wasn’t purgeable, but I moved it to disk cache to store additional metadata (don’t worry, your account token is still safe in keychain!).

At the moment, my best guess is the OS is more aggressively cleaning up Catch’s cache folder. These files never should’ve been stored in cache to begin with, so I’m going to move them to a more persistent location in the next version and see if that helps.

I’ll get that fixed for you in the next version, apologies!

That makes sense, since all was fine before the last 2 versions. I’m not sure why I’m so unique though. Regardless I look forward to the fix.

@shnhrrsn If you could add TVHeadend support, I would switch to your app for everything! I really really am looking for a plex client that supports TVHeadend which is Live TV/DVR. It doesn’t cost anything for the user, that’s why I want to use it with a plex client. If you need any help making it work, your in luck because there is a Kodi/MrMC TVHeadend plugin that you could browse the code for. I don’t think it would take much effort to whip something up. I am pretty sure almost everything is done through an API or HTML calls. You think you could do this?
