Loss of playback when internet stopped

Server Version# 1.24.5.5173:
Player Version#:4.70
Yesterday I was watching a film from my plex server. while watching we lost internet connection BUT the internal network was working fine. Then the video stopped and i was informed that plex could not make connection. Is it normal for local playback to stop when plex can’t phone home? Or was something else possibly going on?

Nobody know the answer to this … does this mean that Plex is not usable on a private network without internet connection?

Somewhere in the various Plex documentation pages there is one that explains how to allow Plex to work correctly without interned. I do not remember exactly what is needed but one thing is to set your server to “Secure connections preferred” rather than “required.”

Also you need to access the server via its address and not Plex.TV. that address is of the form: http://address of Plex server:32400/web/index.html#!/

I know I have no problem streaming without internet.

You might need to experiment a bit to get the access correct but I can assure you that, once configured correctly, Plex works fine for local media without internet.
