Lost access to my Plex server

Server Version#: synology ds918+
Player Version#: 1.18.7.2415

Hi everyone, today I lost all access to my Plex server, it was working fine yesterday and today I had a Internet drop out at home and seems something changed because I cannot access my Plex server, I’m using a synology ds918+ and I can connect to it, and I can access my Plex media, but I cannot watch any movies from my other devices, also I lost all the user accounts, mine is still active, without picture, so I’m not sure what happen, what information do I need to provide to fix this.
Also I can see my movie folders, movies…etc, but the home is not showing anything.

Thanks for any help.
Luis

There is currently an issue with plex authentication.

Check https://status.plex.tv for updates.

thanks

Ha, I had the exact series of events happen to me too. Quite to confluence of events to break all at once.

Surly there is a way to still view our own content without api. This is ridicules. Local content can’t be streamed and opening ports up manually doesn’t with due to the api. How did plex work before the api?!
Can you offer a back up solution while a fix is implemented, or do I need to downgrade to and older version that doesn’t rely on the api?

Trick One in this article works great to keep local access w/o internet.

Likely many more people trying to post but conveniently for Plex are unable to since they cannot log in.

What a MAJOR FUBAR

@AsmoKane thanks for the howto guide but unfortunately option one requires that the server be logged in. What a joke.

Yeah, this is ridiculous!! Half the reason I like Plex is that I can watch it without internet (so I thought). Come on Plex people… fix this!

Just wanted to post a quick note that everything seems to be working fine for me now.

for me not my local files, it says Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can

.

You can also allow insecure connections now, which will reload the app insecurely.

Yea, I am back in but curiously needed to reset my Plex home screen back to the way it was prior to the “outage”

I will be interesting to see if we get any sort of after action review letting us know what went wrong and how Plex will prevent it in the future…

It’s a lot to wish for and if their prior radio silence and general lack of follow up to other problems/issues is any indication I doubt it.

In the meantime I implemented “option one” of the howto guide that @AsmoKane posted above and suggest others do so as well while they have the opportunity.

A post was split to a new topic: Remote Access - issues with devices

me happens the same, yesterday working good, and today my server show like disconnected, but everything its ok!! any issue?

My plex server has been down for a couple of days. works fine on the pc all of the files are on. however any smart tv or game console in the house it is still to this point “unavailable” I just recently purchased a plex pass last month and currently regretting it seeing as how I never really use my plex on the computer. I havent found any answers yet and according to plex the issue is solved. :man_shrugging:

If you follow @AsmoKane’s comment about using Trick One of the tutorial from howtogeek you’ll be able to access your Plex server on your local network without needing to go to Plex’s auth servers.

@Spidybug This may also work for you.

thanks for the reply. I did all of the steps and its still unavailable  i guess ill just wait a few more days and if nothing ill just ask for a partial refund and move on to another platform.

If you start a new topic with logs and pictures of what you’re experiencing I’m sure the community will be able to assist in figuring it out.
