I did A LOT of custom titles and posters for all of my movies and TV shows, but the other day, my NAS went offline for a bit and when it came back online, Plex decided to re-discover all of my media (via mapped drives on my Windows PC running the Plex server) resulting in all of the “default” info and none of my custom changes.
Is there any way to get my customization back? I put a few hours of work into making those changes.
Plex keeps database backups if you have then enabled in Scheduled Tasks.
If you have backups, and the backups go back further than when you suffered the data loss, you can stop PMS, use the backup copy and copy to be the ‘current’ database, restart PMS and update your libraries again to resync the DB with the files system (for any items you may have added since the backups).
Use this procedure https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201100678-Repair-a-Corrupt-Database
And to prevent this from happening again, DISABLE this preference:
Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’
If your media storage is not internal & local hard disks, always disable this setting.
Thanks for the advice. I went back to a previous copy of database and only had to make some minor adjustments.
