Audio is working everywhere else but not in Firefox or Chrome on the Windows box hosting the Plex server but I do have audio in Firefox on my Macbook that’s connected via ethernet.
I installed the Windows desktop app on the same box as the Plex server and audio works in it. I went into the Player section of that and changed Audio Device to SoundBlaster X5 but that had no effect on the browsers. That option isn’t available in the browser settings of the server. For some reason, it just stopped working in browsers on the server box tonight.
If it’s working with the same browser on a different device, it sounds like there’s some misconfiguration in the browser.
Did you maybe create a configuration for plex.tv to mute audio of this site?
No, I made no changes to Firefox. In fact, I hadn’t even used the computer since it was working last night. I don’t use Chrome but tried it to make sure it wasn’t a Firefox issue. I was playing audio fine yesterday and when I came back to it tonight, no audio through the browsers. I guess it really doesn’t matter if I can do everything through the app (Desktop AF). Just wondering what happened.
I didn’t know the desktop app existed until I saw a Reddit post tonight about audio not working so I installed it and had sound.
Oh, this is on Windows 10 Pro updated to whatever the latest is. And Plex server is 1.41.3.9314
I went away from the computer for awhile and when I came back it’s now working again in Firefox. Well, the problem has let me find out about Plex desktop and I’ll use it from now on. I installed it on the MacBook M3 too. Much better than loading up Firefox just to get to the server.
