Lost movies

Hi
Just received the newsletter about all the good stuff for Apple TV etc, all this sounds wonderful but it would be just great if you could get the basics right I cannot count the number of times I have uploaded movies to my Plex application only to discover when I want to play them that they have disappeared or are “not available” or some other nonsense, can you explain what happens to them in the interim, in the meantime I will revert to uploading to iTunes at least that is reliable and doesn’t “lose” my movies.
Plex is also the most difficult company to contact hiding behind FAQs which don’t answer users questions, maybe I’ll get an answer here.

There is nothing uploaded anywhere so not sure what you mean. The files stay on your computer or wherever you have them. When creating a library you are only telling Plex which folder they are in. When you want to add more movies you just put them in that same folder with the rest of your movies which Plex Media Server will scan and add to the library database.

If you have them on external or networked drive and your Plex Media Server loses connection to it due to a network drive falling asleep or an external drive becoming unplugged or some other reason it cannot find them it will say unavailable.

I fully understand that and perhaps upload was the wrong word forgive me but on many occasions I get the message that Plex cannot find the file despite the fact that I have completed the same procedure for each movie file, why are some there and others not?
Thank you for responding.
