Love my Plex for XBox One

Just wanted to spread some happiness around here for once since all we see are people hating on this great app.   I have all my movies ripped to <20Mbps MKVs with AC3 audio and full selectable subtitles.  Everything works wonderfully.  Yes, the MKVs have to be remuxed but that is a very light on the CPU process and doesn't affect quality at all (Direct Stream).  There are a few bugs (crashing after a long pause, occasionally not finding the server) and there are some much needed missing features (music, photos, continuous play) but all in all, this app has really revolutionized how I access my media.

Aww. Thanks! Your words are very much appreciated  :)

If you have any suggestions or issues, we're always happy to hear them.

Thanks again. You made my Friday  :D

Oh... no transcoding after selecting one of your subtitles?

This happens because xbox doesn't properly support subtitles. Right now it's this or none at all. Get on uservoice and support the related request(s) for subtitle support (and mkv and dts for that matter). :)

Dom C, I have to agree with the OP, my wife and I use ours daily and its taken center stage in our livingroom. Thanks for all the hard work. :)

I would second what slydog said.  The fact that the client has a target for 5.1 audio has made the Plex app on the Xbox One currently our main app used for media playback.  With the exception of the Xbox switching users between me and my wife during playback (Thanks Kinect, and yes my wife says this was my fault) I haven't really had any major set backs on the Xbox One and can't wait for more features to make their way over.

Big love for this app!

Ive always used it through roku, rasplex & Plexbmc but have now landed on XboxOne as my "go to". In fact, channels is the only reason why I keepthe others around.. when/if the Xone client gets this... then its game over for anything else!

Love it.  Just needs genres and collections!

Oh... no transcoding after selecting one of your subtitles?

Yes, it does transcode if I turn on subs.  For me it's not a problem as I'm running plex server on a pretty high end machine, but could definitely be an issue for others.

+1 we also use it daily and Plex replaced all my other media solutions in th ehouse (Plex on the xbox 360 for my bedroom tv needs, plex on an cheap android tablet in the bathroom for my music wishes, plex on 4 windows tablets for on the go and the kids, plex on 3 windows phones for on the go and the kids).

I also would love the channels, music and picture support. But I allready ditched the other devices. The movies are most important. This experience is good enough and all upgrades will be enjoyed when they arrive, and for me more content is higher prio than better audio/picture quality etc.

my xbox is the main media player in my living room i am happy with the plex pass, one thing im wondering is i would like to cast from my plex app on ipad to my xbox like netflix does and youtube, also would be nice to see my music library, using the xbox media app for music is hard to find what you want.

Plex Companion support, or any other type of cast/flinging isn't yet available on the Plex Xbox One app - sorry!

We're working hard on getting the rest of the libraries supported in the app as well.
