First off, I am very impressed with the new MUSIC features added to Plex. They are awesome. So thank you!
As a long time user of a Squeezebox/Logitech Media Server (SB/LMS) for playing music, I really like the direction Plex is headed with music.
A few things I would like to see added to Plex Music to make me finally retire my LMS server:
(1) Support for playing music to various network connected audio devices.
Right now I can play through my Plex client, but I have several Logitech clients (A mix of Squeezbox Radios, Squeezebox Touches and PiCorePlayers.) . Most of these devices are nowhere near a TV and simply drive amps/speakers directly.
As a starting point look at RoonLabs and how they support music playback to a variety of Amps, DACs and other assorted devices.
(2) Simultaneous music output to multiple devices.
I want to play music to multiple devices at the same time.
(a) Synced play so I can play the same music around my entire house
(b) Play different music to different devices around the house
(3) If I’m dreaming - just buy RoonLabs and integrate it into Plex.
Seriously, they have done the legwork to support playback of music to a lot of devices. High end audio manufacturers are making their devices “Roon ready” so the Roon server will just work with these devices.
Number 1 and 2 would make me retire SB/LMS and finally put all my media (video and audio) into Plex. Number 3 is admittedly crazy, but I had to throw this out there.
Thoughts? Anything else music folks would like to see added?
Thanks.
